New England College alumni have earned more than a degree. As members of a dynamic community of learners, NEC graduates are prepared to transform themselves and the world. We invite you to read how our alumni have applied what they’ve learned to achieve in their lives.
Tyler Struble is a staff accountant in the reporting and account reconciliation department of Re:Sources, part of Publicis Groupe, in New York.
How did your education prepare you for what you are doing today?
I work as a staff accountant. A lot of my job involves preparing and fixing documents for the head accountants that I work under. The classes I took help me to better understand the material I am looking at. With a better understanding of the data before me every day, I can more efficiently find errors, and more effectively communicate to my superiors.
What aspects of your time as a New England College student continue to resonate with you since graduation?
I believe the biggest impact taking online courses at NEC have made on me is my gained concentration and motivation. Taking online courses, one has to be motivated and stay concentrated to finish assignments and stay on task.
What advice/insight do you have for NEC alumni and students interested in your career field?
Accounting is a very popular field. Don’t give up hope if it is taking a long time to find a job. It took me almost a year to find a permanent position within a company.
